Titan Electric completed a significant installation for Testa Produce at its 91,000-square-foot refrigerated food service headquarters in the Back of the Yards Neighborhood of Chicago. The complex is the nation’s first LEED Platinum Grocery Distribution Facility. The warehouse features several sustainable technologies, including a solar grid for heating potable water, 100% LED lighting, solar tracking skylights, and daylight harvesting. It also features Chicago’s first freestanding wind turbine, which produces 30% of the building’s energy needs. Titan Electric’s services included in-house 3D BIM drawings, 180 PV solar panels (photovoltaic and hot water panel installation), infrastructure between a wind turbine and ComEd, power distribution for electric car chargers, and more.
