Testa Produce
Titan Electric completed a significant installation for Testa Produce at its 91,000 square foot refrigerated foodservice headquarters located in the Back of the Yards Neighborhood in Chicago’s Union Stockyards Corridor.
The complex is the nation’s first LEED Platinum Grocery Distribution Facility. Everything from the parking lot to the food refrigeration system was part of the green initiative.
The warehouse features a number of sustainable technologies including a huge solar grid for heating potable water; 100% LED lighting throughout; solar tracking skylights; and daylight harvesting.
The facility also features a 750kW wind turbine that produces 30% of the building’s energy needs. This 238-foot tall structure is the first freestanding wind turbine within the City of Chicago.
